Watch the following videos
Through the Eyes of a Sculptor
Glass and Ceramics
Had to resort to using my phone to view these vids, don't know why my laptop decides to be a brat about videos. Tis what I get for trying to structure my own operating system before fully understanding what it takes to have a fully functioning computer like we're used to today. anywhoo, below are my answers.
1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
The glass and ceramic one talked about the process of making each medium, but it also covered the business side of the crafts, so I found the information it shared on how these crafts are still relevant, but less likely to have masters within it valid information. Makes me feel more cozy with the idea of learning metalsmithing, myself.
The second video went over the history of sculpture, primarily relating to one particular artist, which was okay. I found it a bit dry, and then concepts didn't seem to expand much past that. I mean, the nuances to sculpting is interesting, but I find moreso to do, rather than to hear someone talk about. However, I'm more of a tactical learner, so I may be biased.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The reading helps to expand my vocabulary in terms of how to speak within such fields, especially since I get to view and dissect the words I'm viewing.
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics: Sculpture, Installation, and Craft?
They reinforce what i read, but with more scientific processes included. Which I appreciate, as someone who finds the process of creating craft art like this interesting. Also helps to have a visual in this way, video going over techniques used by artists in these mediums.
